As part of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, the Engineering Preclinical Imaging Center is a research laboratory dedicated to small animal imaging. Our primary research interest is in the development of various techniques to image organ structure and function in order to improve the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of disease conditions.
The EPIC houses a 7 Tesla small-animal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system and auxiliary equipment. We are a collaborative team and seek to establish new collaborations across disciplines. We also operate as a recharge facility, and provide support for magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy with small animals or biological samples.
The EPIC is located in the Bonisteel Interdisciplinary Research Building (North Campus), which also houses the Functional MRI Laboratory.
